Not sure if you have ever heard, but there is a guy whom looks like Jesus and he has a website which offers “baths with Jesus” for which you can pay money. Kinda a weird concept, but since the site exists, I can only assume that people want to do this. Anyway, as I was on the webcam today with Karen (right after getting out of the shower and wearing a white robe), she says “wow, you really look like Jesus”. Perhaps there’s a business opportunity there I’m not pursuing.

A very strange thing occurred on the plane to Bangalore today (and Tony can confirm this) — but a bunch of Italian ladies roamed through the plane asking us to give up whatever food we could spare (or didn’t eat) to give to the children in the city when we land. Or at least, that’s what seemed to be happening, I don’t speak Italian.

About to travel again and as such have to get a lot of stuff done. Trying to get things done for Shakespeare’s Angels (did a fight practice and filming today). Was surprised by another mouse in one of the traps (since we haven’t had them for a while now) and had to return Dad’s computer to his house now that I got it working again. Nothing eventful, but no time, no time.

Karen arranged with S+S to sneak over this evening and smack me to receive their rjomabolla early since I had to go to work at 7:30 next morning. They were quite elaborate light up knitting needles with streamers which was very very funny. Quite a lot of work for them to plan and craft but it was all worth it as we all enjoyed buns that Karen had obtained.
What am I talking about? BUN DAY! (Feb 19th) There are a couple of blog entries about the pastries and event (Sparrky’s blog and World on a Plate). I encourage people to celebrate such an auspicious Nordic holiday.

He he he — found some valentine heart messages stuffed into my luggage — that was a very nice surprise. Stupid that I have to be away for valentine’s day.

Headed off to Huntington Beach today for the last of the user conferences of Hummingbird. Flew with Karen’s boss Bill (and took him into the lounge with me) which was fun since he was also heading to that Irvine area, so we passed the time talking about Centre in the Square. First time I have ever been in California (it’s really quite nice), very close to the beach and have a full suite which I’m going to use for team meetings.

Fantastic! The FDC website finally got an overhaul (now that I don’t own it) — all based on wiki and looks pretty good.

Today was the yearly ski day trip up at Beaver Valley for which Chad joined me. We had a not bad day (it was a little cold) and we had some fun going down Avalanche (the double diamond). The fun really started however when they closed off part of the hill and we were forced to find an alternate route down to the lift. Well, we happened to see a path through the trees, so of course we slowly and carefully picked our way through the trees (so that we wouldn’t lock our skis under fallen trees and crack up) and had some fun zipping through the woods moving from one section of run to the other. We had some hairy times when we had a few drops of 3-4 feet and some tight skiing between very close packed trees, but we didn’t kill ourselves or get caught, so we kept doing it until we were done for the day.

Today is Sean’s birthday, so we decided to try out Boa Nova, a restaurant we hadn’t been to ever. Let us just say that I don’t think I’ve ever eaten that much pure meat (not to many veggies) in once place at one time. The traditional style of restaurant this is has many meat courses where “Gaucho” come to your table repeatedly through the evening and slice you off some hunk of meat from their spit. The dessert is also really quite good with cinnamon covered pineapple and helps offset the meat sweats.

Tonight we had our first rehearsal for Shakespeare’s Angels - so I got together with the folks at EdVideo in Guelph and started going over some of the sword fighting we would be doing between Jeff and Jen. On my way back, I realized that I was out of gas and needed to gas up before I was able to finish my drive home. I pulled into the station and fuelled up and then went to pay and found I had no wallet, but owed $37. This was a problem. After a short bit, I thankfully got a hold of Karen on the phone and she read out her credit card number and we punched it in so I could pay and leave. I drove back to EdVideo and recovered my wallet before heading back home for the second time. I’m very lucky I have a wife to rescue me from dumb situations.

One of the points of CANPASS is probably honesty — it’s written all over the forms, “this program works on the honour system”. Drove to airport today to get Karen her CANPASS completed so she can have the blessings of no customs line-ups like me. While we were waiting to go in (because the staff were on lunch break) we decided to get a coffee and a donut from the place beside the immigration office in Terminal 1. The girl takes our order and hands us what we want, we present our money and she wanders away and starts to take the next order. We look at each other, then try to get her attention so we can pay (which fails), then look at each other and then go sit down for our snack. Karen felt guilty the rest of the afternoon and was sure the CANPASS folks would somehow hold the ill-gotten donut against her immigration status.
