Dress rehearsal sleepiness
September 17th, 2006
Karen, myself and well everyone really are so tired right now — even falling asleep on the couch. We finished our dress rehearsal for the RMF today and had an extended fight rehearsal. Essentially we spent from 10am to 4pm in the park running the whole show. Overall, it was pretty good for a rehearsal, and we cleaned up quite a few areas that needed improving. As it usually goes, on the day of the faire it will likely be 200% better (for some reason), but I think in the end, everyone was quite happy with it. I was expecially impressed with the gold group and their recaps of previous years, especially the fun Ceili dance sequence that would occur at the end of each section. Now we just have to do the good weather voodoo and all should for Saturday.

A saying I have always heard doin’ theatre… “Bad dress… good show.” I think a dress rehersal really brings to highlight where things need work, and people tend to focus and do the needed work. As well, once you get an audience you get some energy back, it makes a big difference.
As for the rain… it looks like it is going to be rainy most of the week, and be horrible for setup, but hopefully, like a dress rehersal, the weather will get it all worked out in time for the performance.

Hopefully… very frustrating as the Saturday we usually have it was just fine weather wise (and the thing that we got bumped for was apparently cancelled). We’ll see where we went up… doesn’t look great currently, but it could change around in time. That reminds me, I have to find a live chicken this afternoon.
