Today was a rainy day so Karen, Sean, Shae, Mike and I did a little bit of warcrafting. It was fun because we’ve largely been away from it for a while (most of August) and people are dropping out of it like flies. I think I’m sticking with it until next year sometime, but my play time has seriously decreased (which is a good thing).

Karen and I had a long conversation today about the medieval faire. We’re both very conflicted around wanting it to continue and also wanting to be done with it. After much analysis I think we don’t want to be done with it because:
- it’s not that much work anymore (for us anyway)
- we have good people helping out (some may be in need of a break themselves)
- if we include more fresh people, they can be more involved
- it’s a great community thing
- if we go to 11 years, it doesn’t mean we have to go to 15 years
- we’re not sure we want to start something else from scratch
- we want to bring our kids to it someday
It’s really tough though. It is similar in thinking to wanting to go out at the top of your career, not when you’re done and washed up. I guess we’ll see, but at least we’ve admitted to ourselves that it’s not as cut and dried as “we’re done at year 10“.
